September 14, 2018 is looking awesome as shit now. Shane Black's The Predator bodes even more promising following a second trailer airing this week, and now pairing up with a more public view of Panos Cosmatos' new thriller from RLJE Films, Mandy, which has been the proverbial talk of the town following its world premiere at Sundance earlier this year.
Pacific Northwest. 1983 AD. Outsiders Red Miller and Mandy Bloom lead a loving and peaceful existence. When their pine-scented haven is savagely destroyed by a cult led by the sadistic Jeremiah Sand, Red is catapulted into a phantasmagoric journey filled with bloody vengeance and laced with fire. You can pretty much chuck this right next to Mom And Dad and 211 if you're keeping up lately with all the Nicolas Cage fan fare and he's not stopping anytime soon now that he's got a Sion Sono film lined-up. Cage absolutely rages in the Mandy footage we now have; Axes, chainsaws and all dipped in darkly-tinted anarchy and reds stronger than any amount of gore you might see in an action horror of this kind...
This is pretty much what Leigh Whannell's Upgrade did to me prior to catching it in theaters. My mind is running. I am absolutely sold on this.
Andrea Riseborough stars in the title role as well and with Linus Roache, Ned Dennehy, Olwen Fouéré, Richard Brake and Bill Duke also starring.
