Antonio Banderas Action Titles, ACTS OF VENGEANCE And BULLET HEAD Among Recent Saban Rights Acquisitions At TIFF

Actor Antonio Banderas has been on a badass streak in the last few years with a string of action movie appearances. The Security and The Expendables 3 co-star is set to appear in two out of three titles for which Saban Films have acquired the rights while shopping around at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Acts Of Vengeance is first on the list as one we've all come to know in the past year as Boyka: Undisputed 4 producer Isaac Florentine's revenge thriller, Stoic. Banderas is joined by Karl Urban, Robert Forster and Paz Vega with a script by Matt Venne that sees a f.ast-talking lawyer taking a vow of silence while transforming his body in preparation to avenge the murder of his wife and daughter.

The other, Bullet Head, hails from writer and director Paul Solet with a story that explores all the categorical misgivings that eventually find a group of fugitive career criminals trapped in a deadly warehouse and flanked by an attack dog named DeNiro. Banderas leads the cast here with actors John Malkovich and Adrien Brody.

Both films are being planned for theatrical releases as is the upcoming zombie survival remake of George A. Romero's Day of the Dead from director Hector Hernandez Vicens and starring actress Sophie Skelton. Ness Saban and Bill Bromiley negotiated the deal for all three titles on behalf of Saban with Dave Sobieraj from Millennium.
“Avi Lerner has long become synonymous with widely appealing action thrillers with marquee names,” Saban president Bill Bromiley said. “This is perfectly in line with our acquisition strategy. Our audiences are starving for these types of films, and with this newly minted relationship, we are thrilled to have a steady pipeline of these movies.”
Banderas's new Simon West action comedy, Gun Shy, is now available on VoD next to a raft of recent and upcoming releases, including Ric Roman Waugh's Shot Caller, and forthcoming releases of Taran Killam's action comedy Schwarzenegger headliner Killing Gunther and hitman action thriller 24 Hours to Live starring Ethan Hawke.
