The summer movie season became much more fortuitous in the last several months. Sony Pictures's campaign for Sicario 2: Day Of The Soldado deliverer a massive second trailer ahead of a June 29 release, signaling an exciting new crime sequel that reintroduces Benecio Del Toro and Josh Brolin to their respective roles in accordance with new plot twists and layers that only up the ante from that of the first film.
This time it's all about the artwork and with an illustrious, cultivated and cogent approach to foundate the narrative that settles viewers once more into the deadly and dark battleground South of the border where, as the tagline suggests, therr are "No Rules This Time". Stefano Sollima helms this time around with a script by Taylor Sheridan who masterfully executed Denis Villeneuve's inaugural hit which won hearts at Cannes in 2015.
In SICARIO, Day of the Soldado, the series begins a new chapter. In the drug war, there are no rules – and as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) calls on the mysterious Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), whose family was murdered by a cartel kingpin, to escalate the war in nefarious ways. Alejandro kidnaps the kingpin’s daughter to inflame the conflict – but when the girl is seen as collateral damage, her fate will come between the two men as they question everything they are fighting for.Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Donovan, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Catherine Keener.
