LIVERLEAF: First Teaser For Naito Eisuke's Psych Horror Manga Adaptation Paints The Snow-Covered Town Red

The artwork for Oshikiri Rensuke's 2007 manga series, Liverleaf, is something really striking; I've only seen a few images but given the narrative, I get the overall tone and idea behind it and with that, the jury remains out on whether or not that goes for Litchi Hikari Club helmer Naito Eisuke whose latest adaptation of the manga releases on April 7 in Japan.

The teaser certainly looks and feels promising for its audience, bearing the gripping, haunting and violent tone it delivers. Tadano Miako, who debuted in 2006 with Three Year Delivery, adapts Oshikiri's work telling of a newly-arrived school transfer - bullied by her peers, psychologically tormented and eager to get even with the people responsible for the fire that killed the parents and injured the younger sister of her only friend.

Saki (2016) and series drama Hokuto co-star Yamada Anna makes her second turn on the big screen with a performance that so far does some pretty fair justice coupled with its other traits. I'm not quite sure but there's something pretty spellbinding about opening a beautiful wideshot of a snow-covered scenie view and cutting to an eerie overhead glimpse of a girl standing over dead bodies and covered in blood.

The rest of the teaser offers the desired affect if beautifully-shot, psychological murder-revenge thrillers with tonally dissonant music soundtracks are what you crave. Don't miss it below!
