Netflix Scores Sci-Fi Crime Thriller, ANON

Gattica helmer Andrew Niccol's new sci-fi crime thriller, Anon, reportedly landed a Netflix deal last week to the sum of $4 million dollars following screenings in Toronto. Clive Owen, Amanda Seyfried, Colm Feore and Sonya Walger lead the cast with a script by Niccol who produces with K5 Films' Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur.
ANON is set in a near-future world where there is no privacy, ignorance or anonymity. Our private memories are recorded and crime almost ceases to exist. In trying to solve a series of unsolved murders, SAL FRIELAND (Owen) stumbles onto a young woman (Seyfried) who appears to have subverted the system and disappeared. She has no identity, no history and no record. Sal realizes it may not be the end of crime but the beginning. Known only as THE GIRL, Sal must find her before he becomes the next victim.
Anon is one of several pre-fest deals that were made ahead of TIFF this past week, including Entertainment Studios's acquisition of the new sci-fi suspense thriller, Replicas, starring Keanu Reeves. K5 Media finanaced Anon with the help of Creative Artists Agency who brokered domestic. Sierra/Affinity handles international.

Niccol scripted the Jim Carrey-led dramedy, The Truman Shown and is writing Ang Lee's upcoming Will Smith headliner, the long-awaited sci-fi, Gemini Man. (Deadline)
