Crime Novel Adaptation, THREE SECONDS, Lands At Aviron Pictures

Following the May launch of Aviron Pictures at Cannes with last month's release, Kidnap, the company has since added forthcoming action thriller, Three Seconds to its acquisitions ahead of this week's kickoff at TIFF. Andrea DiStefano (Escobar: Paradise Lost) helms from a script adapted from the best-selling 2015 Swedish novel by Anders Roslund and Börge Hellström and stars Joel Kinnaman (Suicide Squad, RoboCop, The Killing), Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, Jack Reacher), Academy Award winner Common (Selma, John Wick: Chapter 2), Golden Globe winner Clive Owen (Closer, Children of Men) and Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049).
Three Seconds follows reformed criminal and former special ops soldier Pete Hoffman (Kinnaman) who, in order to free himself from jail and return to his wife (de Armas) and daughter, has been working undercover for crooked FBI handlers (Pike, Common and Owen) to infiltrate the Polish mob's drug trade in New York. In a final step towards freedom, Hoffman must return to the one place he's fought so hard to leave, Bale Hill Prison, where his mission becomes a race against time when a drug deal goes wrong and threatens to identify him as a mole.
Production recently wrapped from a script written by Matt Cook with suceeding revisions by Rowan Joffé and Alex Garland, and then DiStefano. Thunder Road Pictures' Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, and The Fyzz Facility's Wayne Marc Godfrey, Robert Jones, Mark Lane and James Harris are producing along with Ollie Madden. The Fyzz Facility is also financing the film with Thunder Road's Jonathan Fuhrman and Magnolia Entertainment's Shelley Browning serving as executive producers. Jason Resnick brokered the deal for Aviron Pictures as head of acquisitions. Bloom is handling international sales.
"Three Seconds is a gritty, white knuckle ride that showcases the talents of some heavy-hitting actors," says Aviron Pictures' David Dinerstein. "Having just worked with Wayne and The Fyzz on the successful release of 47 Meters Down, we're grateful to have another project on which to partner with them and are looking forward to working with Basil and Thunder Road on this intense, action-packed thriller."
