BUMBLEBEE Begins Filming, Adds.....John Cena!!! (Insert Theme Music Here)

Wrestler John Cena's 2006 feature film debut, The Marine, wasn't a huge favorite but I frankly enjoyed it as much as I wish his film career didn't taper off from blockbuster movies after 12 Rounds in 2009. Fast forward to 2017 and while netizens have run wild with memes cheering Cena's celebrity, there's no question that his on-screen charisma is totally there, and so it's nice to see him relevant this year with his recent supporting role in Doug Liman's The Wall, as well as this week regarding all things Transformers as of late.

Speaking of, I haven't seen The Last Knight yet and probably won't for a while...eventually. Alas, filming reportedly began. in Southern California on Monday for the production of Kubo And The Two Strings helmer Travis Knight's latest, Bumblebee. The new movie spins off from filmmaker Michael Bay's current Transformers pentalogy, joining Cena with a cast that now lists Hailee Steinfeld, Pamela Adlon, Stephen Schneider, Jason Drucker, Kenneth Choi and Ricardo Hoyos, with a script by Christina Hodson.
On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.
Transformers franchise producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing along with Bay, with Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner, Mark Vahradian and Chris Brigham executive producing.

It's worth noting that even though The Last Knight, Bay's final contribution to the Paramount film franchise, made well over its budget this summer, it barely made half of Age Of Extinction, the fourth film's $1.1 billion dollar gross, and so it's reasonable to beleive that this may very well undercut the studio's plans for several more films after this apart from Bumblebee. I don't really know how they're going to plot this out but Bumblebee seems like a cohesive-enough package to spin-off a beloved character for fans.

December 21, 2018 is the date. Stay tuned! (The Wrap)
