JUDGE DREDD: MEGA CITY ONE Announced For Live-Action Television Series Development

It wouldn't be wrong to call the death of a sequel to Pete Travis's 2012 3D adaptation of iconic 2000 A.D. comic property, Dredd, a tragedy. It is, and always will be as but a reminder of what happens when a film is poorly marketed and people aren't paying attention.

That said, there was still talk of a possible animation advancement by way of the film's producer, Adi Shankar back in February. I know my own disfavor with that idea stood well as did some others, although now it seems IM Global and U.K. based games developer and publisher are here, promptly throwing that notion under the bus with the announcement of a live-action drama titled Judge Dredd: Mega City One.

The EW exclusive posted on Wednesday described the series as "...an ensemble drama about a team of Judges — futuristic cops invested with the power to be judge, jury, and executioner — as they deal with the challenges the future-shocked 22nd century throws at them.". There's no casting or crew news as of yet but one has to admit this is WAY better than reducing such a potentially rich, visual treatment down to an animated landscape...

Oh, and bringing Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby back for their roles from the 2012 film would be nice too.
