They say a picture is worth a thousand words. For this, I think it's safe to say this particular picture is self-explanatory, but for the uninformed, you're looking at just the start of a new campaign for thrilling action cinema with pre-production heavily underway for Triple Threat, the new movie from director Jesse V. Johnson.
Pictured below are just two of the film's headliners of the ensemble cast, Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais - both having been central to fan curiousity for the last seven years regarding if ever these two would see a film set together. Uwais recently completed filming Timo Tjahjanto's Joe Taslim-starrer, The Night Comes For Us following the release of Indonesian action hit, Headshot, while Jaa, fresh from his latest online music video premiere, Groundbreaking, scored big with his appearance in D.J. Caruso's xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage this past winter.
Joining the two will be Tiger Chen (Man Of Tai Chi) rounding out the all-Asian line-up of lead action stars for the story of a billionaire's daughter who turns to two down-on-their-luck fighters and a third who seeks revenge, to protect her from a murderous cartel. Playing opposite our heroes will be a staunch line-up of baddies enlisting a reunion among badasses, namely Scott Adkins (Undisputed 2 & 3, Doctor Strange), Michael Jai White (The Philly Kid, TV series Metal Hurlant Chronicles) and Michael Bisping (xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage), with Celina Jade (Skin Trade) and Jeeja Yanin (Never Back Down: No Surrender, HBO Asia's Halfworlds) rounding out the cast!
SC Films International's own Mike Selby is producing along with Mike Gabrawy and Gary Hamilton of Arclight Films. Chen, who will appear in the U.S. release of the Asian sci-fi, Kung Fu Traveler, is also producing Triple Threat as are Elliot Tong and Ying Ye with Tim Man serving as action director.
Shanghai Aurora Alliance is financing the film which commences production in Thailand in less than two weeks.
Uwais, currently set to appear in Liam O'Donnell's Beyond Skyline, recently boarded the production of Randy Korompis's Asian sci-fi thriller from Mario Kassar, Foxtrot Six, which goes before cameras in June. Adkins himself is currently on deck to etch another in a round of film credits, joining co-star White for Johnson's Accident Man, as well as in XLrator Media's Savage Dog and the current production of Eric Zaragoza's Incoming, and the September 15 release of actor Dylan O'Brien's new movie, American Assassin from CBS Films.
