There's only been one film at current that I'm eyeing right now for which James Wan is still set to produce. This report isn't about that one in particular, but another project instead while it still reads with an awesome premise for a film I might go see, now in the form of Lionsgate's latest acquisition, Smart House.
The concept was primed by Wan who will produce the film via his Atomic Monster banner along with head of production Michael Clear from a script by Brad Keene which tells of a family in witness protection whose only defense is the state-of-the-art, autonomous "smart house" they've been placed in, tricked out with lethal built-in defense settings. Piranha 3D and The Hills Have Eyes helmer Alexandre Aja will direct, as well as produce with Wan and Clear, and producer Gregory Levasseur.

“We are delighted that Smart House brings James Wan and Alex Aja back to Lionsgate for this cool, of-the-moment thriller,” said Lionsgate president of acquisitions and co-productions Jason Constantine. “We had the privilege of being involved with James’ directorial debut with ‘Saw’ and with Alex on one of his earlier films, ‘High Tension.’ The idea of combining their talents into one project for the first time is exciting for us and genre fans everywhere.”
Wan, sharing respective director and producer credits for titles like the Saw franchise, the Insidious and The Conjuring films and Furious Seven as well as upcoming Annabelle: Creation and DC adaptation, Aquaman, and debut director Simon McQuoid's Mortal Kombat for Warner Bros.
