BUMBLEBEE Lands Travis Knight To Direct For Paramount

Director Travis Knight's Kubo And The Two Strings may not have performed hugely last year, but there's no question that he's gained some critical notoriety making him pretty essential to hire at the helm. With this in mind, Paramount has apparently taken to this effort in the wake of its writers' room developments with a Bumblebee spin-off amid its Transformers film slate with said film releasing on June 8, 2018.

That film comes just shy of a year following the upcoming June 23 release of Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight in which we first see title supporting character back on screen with his ensemble Autobots since Transformers: Age Of Extinction in 2014. For this, reports have confirmed Knight's attachment to direct Bumblebee from a script by Christina Hodson and Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg producing.

The film marks Knight's live-action debut following years of film and TV work with credits such as The Boxtrolls, ParaNorman and Coraline, and UPN claymation series Gary & Mike. Kubo And The Two Strings was Knight's feature film directorial debut earning only $74 million dollars at the box office despite a mix of approving and upworthy critical reviews and reactions from viewers and a 97% fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes.
